Big city vs. small town in Japan? Unfairness exists ?

----------

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday, I wrote about Chanel.

I regret having written some negative aspects of Chanel.

A family member of yours might be President of Chanel. ….

----------------------------------------------------

Speaking of company executives, I’m reminded of my university friends.

I studied marketing at university.

In Japan, students join a seminar group for two years, typically in their 3rd and 4th years.

I took a marketing class in my 2nd year and really liked the professor, so I joined his seminar.

It turned out to be a mistake.

The seminar had several children of company owners, and I felt like an outsider in the group for the two years.

Anyway,

One of them was the son of the founder of a large family restaurant chain.

Although he came from a wealthy family, he didn’t act like it.
Just a typical Japanese boy.

Well, not sure what a “typical Japanese boy” really means, haha.

He studied at New York University's Business School while I was working for Canon USA.

I visited him one weekend. He lived in a condo owned by his father, and we had a full view of Central Park from the place.

That was the only moment I felt like he was really rich.

In the end, he didn’t join his family’s company but instead became a marketing professor.

A few years after he finished business school, his family’s company was sold to a major Japanese investment bank.

Later, it was sold to an American investment bank.

So, whether he had stayed with the family business or not, his life would’ve been interesting and exciting.

Sorry, I changed topics a lot—from Chanel to a family restaurant.

The reason I’m writing this is that I found an album from my junior high school, which was in a small town in Hiroshima.

I googled some of my old classmates, and my search expanded to my university friends.

Unlike my college friends, I couldn’t find much about my junior high classmates.

One became an anime writer, and another became a dentist.

That’s about it.

Is there a big difference between Tokyo and Hiroshima?
Big city vs. small town.

Unfairness exists in the world.

That’s probably another topic for me to write about in a newsletter.

Thank you for reading!
Toshiya
