Lucky cat in Japan

Hi Everyone,

Today, I want to share some limited-edition products from Snidel Beauty.

The packaging features a lucky (beckoning) cat, known as Maneki Neko in Japanese (Maneki means "inviting" and Neko means "cat").

I looked into the origin of the Maneki Neko, and there are several stories about how it came to be.

One popular tale goes like this:

In the early Edo period, a samurai was passing by Gotokuji Temple in Tokyo when he noticed a white cat beckoning to him. Curious, he decided to follow the cat and entered the temple. Just as he did, a sudden thunderstorm broke out.

Thanks to the cat’s gesture, he avoided getting caught in the rain and spent the time listening to the priest’s teachings.

The experience left such a meaningful impression on him that he felt immense gratitude. As a result, he began supporting Gotokuji Temple with donations and other aid.

Gotokuji Temple is located in a very quiet area of central Tokyo.

You can visit the temple and see these lucky cats for yourself!
